프랑스 인상주의 악파의 거장 에릭 사티의 <짐노페디 3번>, 존 윌리엄스의
오케스트라 편곡 협주는 아름답기 그지 없지만, 이 곡은 원래 그런 모티브에서
출발한 것은 아니었지요. 최소의 장식만 사용하여, 음과 색, 빛의 잔영을
중시했던 인상파 예술의 정신을 집약한 <짐노페디>.
어원상으로는 발로(Pedie) 추는 춤-체조(Gymno) 정도가 되나요...
로마시민의 제물이 되어 콜로세움에서 죽음을 두고 생사의 결투를 벌이는
검투사... 어느 누구와도 마찬가지로 죽음의 공포를 가진 그들. 이렇게
조용하고 아름다운 발사위로 상대방을 가늠하기 시작합니다. 이긴자는
노예로부터 평민으로 돌아오는 해방의 기쁨을 누리고, 진자는 노예의 삶에서
해방되어 이승을 떠나버리는..짐노페디...그런 느낌으로 연습해 보아야 겠군요.
크리스토퍼 파크닝의 독주도 강추합니다.
