A Brief Introduction of Yang Xuefei

Miss Yang Xuefei was born in 1977 in Beijing. When she was about ten years of age, she began to study classical guitar under the tutelage of guitar educator Professor Chen Zhi. On the First China International Guitar Art Festival, held in May 1987, she began to show her talent and her performance won enthusiastic acclaim of the audience. She was granted a present of a Spanish hand-made guitar by the Spanish Ambassador in China. In June 1988 when she was eleven, she won the 2nd prize in the 1st Beijing "Peony Cup" Classical Guitar Contest.

In 1989 she went to Japan to participate the 32nd TOKYO International Guitar Contest as a honor guest and her performance was well received by the guitarists. The 1st Prize winner in the Paris Guitar Contest, Mr. Shin-Ichi Fukuda said: "I have been to many countries in the world, but I have never seen such a little girl whose skill has reached so high a level렁?I think that her skill can make 99 scores. " At last the famous Japan guitar maker Mr. Masaru Kohno presented her a high quality hand-made guitar as an award.

Yang Xuefei went to the middle school attached to the Central Conservatory of Music to study classical guitar in September 1990. As a leading solo performer, she participated the "New Spring Art Festival" in Macao in February, 1991. In the same year under the leadership pf Mr. Chen Zhi, Yang made performance tours in Spain, Portugal and Hong Kong. The musical world in Europe spoke highly of her performance. The Spanish National TV Station and the European Community Radio Station all transmitted her performance. At the age of 90, guitar master Joaquin Rodrigo presented her recital in Madrid and said: "I just can't believe it is performed by a 14 year old teen!"

In March 1993, Yang made another performance tour in Taiwan. At the end of 1994, Yang Xuefei and other two girl guitarists Wang Yameng and Bai Pu performed in five cities including Tokyo in Japan. Their recitals were warmly praised in the mass media.
