Liona Boyd는 영국 런던에서 태어나 8세때 카나다로 이주.
14세때 부모에게 크리스마스 선물로 기타를 사주라고 요청하고 Julian Bream의 연주를
듣고 기타를 마스터하기로 마음먹고 Eli Kasner에게 레슨을 받았다.
Narcisco Yepes, Andres Segovia, Alirio Diaz와 Bream의 개인지도로 음악이 섬세해짐.
Christopher Parkening은 Liona는 내가 들어본 가장 훌륭한 기타리스트중 한명이다라고
말하고 Segovia는 Lona는 거대한 캐리어를 가질것이다라고 예언했다.
The University of Toronto에서 음악석사를 우등받고 졸업하고 Canadian National Music Competition.에서 1등상을 받음. 파리에서 Alexandre Lagoya에게 2년간 개인과외를 받고
카나다로 돌아와 첫 앨범을 Boot/London Records로 녹음했다. Carnegie Recital Hall 데뷔에서 격찬을 받았고 New York Times는 그녀의 뛰어난 감각을 칭찬했다.
전세계적으로 연주여행을 다니며, 심포니와 협연하고 Rio de Janeiro, Istanbul, New Delhi, Seoul, Havana, Paris ,Tokyo등의 국제 페스티벌에 참가.
북미에서 솔로 아티스트로 광범위하게 여행하고 John Williams의 Boston Pops orchestras와도 협연하고 The Tonight Show를 포함한 수많은 텔레비젼프로에 초대됨.
