There's a lady who's sure all the glitters is gold, and she's buying a stairway to Heaven. When she gets there, she knows if the stores are all closed with a word she can get what she came for. Ooh, Ooh, and she's buying a stair way to Heaven. There's a sign on the wall, but she wants to be sure, 'cause you know sometimes words have two meaning.

빛나는 것은 황금뿐이라고 믿는 귀부인이 천국으로 가는 계단도 사려하네요. 그녀가 와서는, 여긴 아무 것도 살 게 없는데 뭘 하러 왔느냐는 한 마디를 듣곤, 그제야 깨닫게 될까요. 아아! 그럼에도 그녀는 천국을 사려하네요. 벽에는 금언이 걸려있고, 그녀도 그렇게 되고자 하건만, 때론 말씀에는 두 가지 해석이 있음을 모르나 봐요.

In a tree by the brook, there's a song bird who signs sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven. Ooh, It makes me wonder. Ooh, it makes me wonder. There's a feeling I get when I look to the west, and my spirit is crying for leaving. In my thought, I have seen, rings of smoke through the trees, and the voices of those who stand looking.

시냇가 나무에 사는 노래 새가 일러주더군요. 우리 생각은 잘못 얻은 것들이라고요. 아아! 의문이 가시질 않네요. 서쪽하늘을 볼 때면 상념이 떠오르고, 내 영혼은 귀천을 앞에 두고 울고 있네요. 가지 사이로 흘러가는 환연을 보고 있노라면, 변함없이 날 지켜보는 그 소리가 곁에 있음을 알게 되네요.

말씀이 속삭이듯 귓전을 맴도네요. “너희, 누구든지 원하기만 하면 진리로 인도하리라.” 밤새 날 지키던 그를 위해 새날은 새벽을 열고, 울창한 숲은 너털웃음으로 메아리치네요.

에워싼 관목 울타리가 부산떨더라도 불안해 할 것 없어요. 그건 5월의 여왕을 맞이할 봄맞이 채비일 뿐이니까요. 그래요, 두 갈래 다른 길이 있죠. 그렇지만 영원에 이르는 길로 가야지 않겠어요. 아직은 여로를 바꿀 수 있을 거예요.

Your head is humming, and it won't go in case you don't know, the piper's calling you to join him, Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, and did you know, your stairway lies on the whispering wind.

혼란스러울 거예요. 미처 몰랐더라도 요. 그래도 어른께서는 당신을 데리고 가실 거예요. 귀부인이시여, 저 바람소리가 들리나요. 산들바람에 실려 오는 속삭임에 천국이 스며있음을 아셨는지요.

And as we wind on down the road, our shadows taller than our soul. There walks a lady we all know, who shines white light and wants to show. How everything still turns to gold. And if you listen very hard, the tune will come to you at last, when all are one and one is all, to be a rock and not to roll. And she's buying a stairway to heaven.

이리저리 방황할 때마다 허상은 점점 우리 영혼보다 커지네요. 우리 모두 잘 아는 귀부인이 하얀 빛을 발하면서, 그리고 뽐내면서 걷고 있네요. 어떻게 모든 가치가 황금으로 재단될 수 있나요. 말씀을 깊이 새겨보셔요. 결국은 구원을 바라게 될 거예요. 우린 모두 하느님의 일부이고, 그는 모든 것임을 알게 되는 날에는 요. 절대로 구르지 않는 바위처럼 되려면 요, (말씀을 깊이 새겨 보셔요.) 그런데도 귀부인은 천국을 사려고만 하네요.
