이 번에 소개할 편곡 악보는 '슈베르트'의 연가곡집 '겨울나그네'에 5번째 곡인 ' 보리수(Der Lindenbaum)' 입니다.

슈베르트의 연가곡집인 '겨울 나그네' 는 '슈베르트'와 동시대의 詩人 '빌헬름 뮐러(Wilhelm Muller)'의 시에 곡을 붙인 것으로 전부 24곡의 가곡으로 이루어져 있는데 전편에 어둡고 암울한 분위기가 흐르고 있습니다.

그 中에는 "보리수" 나 "우편마차", "봄의 꿈" 과 같이 단독으로도 불리어지는 몇개의 유명한 노래가 포함되어 있으나, 실은 그들 노래를 따로 들어서는 그다지 의미가 없으며, 반드시 한번은 이 가곡집의 노래를 전부 대강이라도 들어 볼 필요가 있습니다.

이 연가곡집은 실연을 해서 살 희망을 잃은 한 청년이 눈보라치는 겨울에 정처없이 여행을 떠나 방황하며 거기서 체험한 여러가지의 일을 노래로 표현하고 있는데 전체적으로 절망적인 곡조로 일관되어 마지막에 가까워질수록 점점 어두워져 끝에 가서는 찬 날씨에 거리에 서서 수동 오르간을 연주하면서 아무도 들어주지 않는 노래를 부르고 있는 늙은 거리의 악사의 모습을 그린 그 유명한 '거리의 악사 (Der Leiermann)'로 마무리 됩니다.

그 중 제5곡인 '보리수(Der Lindenbaum)'는 이 가곡집 중에서 가장 유명한 곡으로 이제까지 줄곧 단조의 세계만 펼쳐지다가, 이 곡에 이르러 녹색을 상징하는 장조로 바뀌게 되어 이 곡에만 밝음이 깃든 것 같으며, 반주는 나뭇잎의 속삭임을 느끼는것과 같이 다분히 묘사적으로 연주될뿐만 아니라 전체적으로 변화가 많은 명 가곡 입니다.
