평소 자기현시욕이 강한 학생 하나가 해양학을 전공하는 교수에게 물었다.
태평양의 모래알이 전부 몇 개인가요.
교수가 대답했다.
지금까지 살아오면서 자네가 먹어치운 밥알이 전부 몇 개인가를 말해 주면 내가 자네의 질문에 명쾌한 대답을 해 주겠네.

A student who has the habit of making useless issues out of nothing asked his Marine Studies professor, “How many grains of sand are there in the Pacific Ocean?”
Upon hearing the question, the professor replied,
“I will answer that question if you can first tell me how many grains of rice you have eaten and put to waste till now.
